Senator...Meg Whitman!?

There's some of talk about Meg Whitman possibly making a comeback in the 2012 elections:
"Meg Whitman has said little about her failed gubernatorial bid in California last year — a race that cost her a record-breaking $141 million of her own cash.
But as the former eBay chief prepares to make her first speech since losing the election, "several in the know" tell the San Francisco Chronicle's Carla Marinucci that Whitman is aiming for a political comeback — and soon.
While a Whitman spokesman says there's "nothing to announce," early speculation is that Whitman might run for the U.S. Senate seat of Democrat Dianne Feinstein, who is up for re-election in 2012.
But the first step to a comeback may be for Whitman to publicly admit that her gubernatorial campaign went less smoothly than she hoped — something she doesn't yet appear to be ready to do. As Marinucci notes, Whitman is set to give two speeches in coming weeks, both of which are closed to the press."
If Meg Whitman decides to make a run against Senator Feinstein, it won't be an easy road for her. Carly Fiorina, another successful business woman, was unable to unseat Barbra Boxer. I expect Senator Feinstein to use the same strategies that Boxer did against Fiornia and use the same tactics against Meg Whitman.
If she does run, can she defeat Barbra Boxer?
I hope she can.
