There Will Be No Brokered GOP Convention

With the Republican National Convention in Tampa Florida coming up next week, there are still those who yearn for a brokered convention. Many of Ron Paul's supporters were hoping that he would push for it but it appeared that Ron Paul did not agree with his supporters that it was a good idea. Moreover, even if he wanted to get a brokered convention, it would not have worked since he hasn't won any delegates in any of the 2012 primaries including Louisiana. Ron Paul will provide a different kind of excitement at the GOP convention since he will be rocking the GOP convention by hosting a fun rally and after party.
However, that is not to say that Ron Paul won't have an impact on the GOP convention. Despite the fact that people like Rick Santorum strongly warned against any attempt by Ron Paul and his supporters to not mess with the GOP platform, the old rumors that Mitt Romney might be adding Ron Paul's "Audit the Fed" campaign to the GOP platform might be coming true as Mitt ponders including it this year's platform. Ron Paul's idea is the only good idea he's ever had and the idea of auditing the Fed is currently making its way though congress.  I'm open to adding that to the GOP platform but any other request from Ron Paul supporters to add more items on the platform is asking too much.
I don't think Ron Paul was ever serious about making a brokered convention happen. However, there is evidence that Sarah Palin wants it to happen. Ann Coulter explains why having her lead a brokered convention is a bad idea:
Coulter, who was asked about the prospects of a brokered Republican convention, hinted — as she has done in the past – that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is promoting the idea because she would like to be considered for the GOP nomination should a brokered convention occur. Coulter warned that selecting a candidate that way would void the vetting process that has weeded out inferior candidates.
“One of the ones promoting that [a brokered convention] is Sarah Palin, who has suggested herself as the choice,” Coulter said. “I think as long as it’s between us girls — I’ve been observing something about her. I don’t think it’s likely to happen. I don’t know what these people are cheering for. As I wrote in a column a few weeks back, who is this dream candidate we’re hoping to get from the convention, because Rick Perry used to be the dream candidate. Can we see them in a debate first?”
As a result, it should be clear why Sarah Palin not being invited to the GOP convention or why she hasn't been allowed to have an opportunity to speak at the convention. You can't expect to be invited to an event if you intend to undermine that event and have not been supportive of the GOP nominee.
Presidential conventions in both parties are highly scripted and highly managed events. With regards to the 2012 GOP Convention, its possible that anything could happen but the Republican Party will ensure that everything will go as planned.

Ann Coulter: Mitt Romney Is The Most Conservative Candidate Who Can Defeat Obama

Here's the transcript of her comments:
"What I changed my mind about is whether -- by the way I changed my mind three months after that on a FOX News show because the economy was so bad. I said, look, I'm generally a pessimist for running against -- actually, maybe I'm not. We have a popular Democratic president, who does has an attractive family, has the entire mainstream behind him, and he's an incumbent. That is why I thought the candidate we ran would lose. I no longer think. I now think Obama has a glass jaw, and I said that a few months after that statement, by the way. It's not really that big of change -- we don't know if my prediction was wrong now -- what I am saying now is of the available candidates, Romney is by far the most conservative, tied with Michele Bachmann. And he has the proven ability to win in a state like Massachusetts," Ann Coulter said on "Hannity" on Tuesday night.
After she endorsed Mitt Romney, she gave a blistering vote of no confidence in Newt Gingrich:
As the discussion continued, it took an abrupt turn to the conservative credentials of both Ron Paul and Gingrich. ”I have a problem with Ron Paul’s foreign policy. And some of his writings that went on for a decade,” Hannity said.
Coulter, seeing an opening, decided to dive into her negative assessment of Gingrich, while comparing his purported lack of conservative ideals to Paul’s. ”I have a problem with Newt Gingrich’s big government conservatism,” she said. “I think of the candidates on the stage, Newt Gingrich is tied with Ron Paul — and only Ron Paul because of his foreign policy — as the least conservative candidate on the stage."

I've always believed that Ann Coulter was a closeted Romney fan  Ann Coulter endorsed Mitt in the 2008 elections and I predicted that she would endorse Mitt Romney again in April of 2011. Turns out my prediction was correct.
She has given a strong defense of Mitt Romney's health care plan. She also talked about him at the 2011 CPAC conference. Ann Coulter is unashamedly conservative. She wouldn't endorse Mitt Romney unless she really believes Romney was really a conservative himself.

Did Ann Coulter Just Endorse Mitt Romney For 2012?

Here's the text in case you want to see Ann Coulter's endorsement of Mitt Romney in print:
ASMAN: Does he get reelected or will Christie come into the picture? COULTER: Well, if Christie comes in Obama does not get reelected.
ASMAN: If Christie does not, and it’s Mitt Romney?
COULTER: A month ago or two months ago at CPAC all predictions this far out are useless, which is why it is kind of fun to make them. I was saying, “No, only Chris Christie can beat Obama,” but the way the economy is going, oil prices going up, food prices going up massive unemployment rate, I think I could well be wrong about Romney. I think he might beat this guy too.
Ann Coulter caused quite a stir at the 2011 CPAC conference when she said that if we don’t run Chris Christie for President, then Romney will win the nomination and we’ll lose in 2012. A lot of people thought her statement meant to be a slam against Mitt. However, I thought it was just her way of endorsing Mitt Romney.

Ann Coulter endorsed Mitt in the 2008 elections and I think she will be consistent in her support of Mitt Romney in 2012. I think she will be more vocal in her endorsement of Mitt Romney as time goes on and the Presidential election heats up. Just wait and see.

Ann Coulter Endorses Mitt Romney At CPAC 2011

Ann Coulter says that if we don’t run Chris Christie for President, then Romney will win the nomination and we’ll lose in 2012. I think she's hinting that she'll endorse him again as she endorsed Mitt in the 2008 elections.
Why do I think that?
Consider this statement when she endorsed Mitt in 2008 in the article I linked above:
"I've been casually taking swipes at Mitt Romney for the past year based on the assumption that, in the end, Republicans would choose him as our nominee. My thinking was that Romney would be our nominee because he is manifestly the best candidate."
Once again, she's taking a swipe at Romney as she did in the last Presidential election. I think she's trying to make a hint to conservatives and Republicans to endorse Mitt again this year.
Everyone knows that Chris Christie will not run for President in 2012 and as a result, she cannot be serious about endorsing Chris. Those who know her that her form of endorsement is through sarcasm and knock downs towards people she admires.
